Join us for a Sunday with Words. Come apart from the usual to be with birds and trees in a retreat that moves through a series of reflective mediTations on place, landscape and symbols. Shape familiar words in new ways. Engage with nature to capture thoughts about what you love; find similes and metaphors from the earth, water and sky. Awaken to mysteries in the relationships of species and their natural surroundings. Think new thoughts and write them.

Landscape Writing Retreat Activities

☼         Landscape trends 2019

☼         Digging into memory to anchor you in your own knowledge of landscape and relationships

☼         Landscape conversations with myself: interior and external worlds and words

☼         Seeing the landscape and writing about what you see

☼         Landscape words: description and emotion

☼          New writing from the new experiences and thoughts of the day

☼         Reading out loud (optional) near the end of the retreat.

 

Preparation 

Preparing for this retreat is a personal exercise that can include thinking about paintings and photographs that communicate landscape in evocative ways. Likewise, it may be written work that evokes landscape responses for you. Bring samples along for show and tell.

 Cost

WORKSHOP: $30.00. Meals extra.

Pre-registration required by July 20. Limited to 15 participants.
