The Battle River Group was formed early in 2017 when Lee Elliott, then Executive Director of the Lt. Governor of Alberta Arts Awards, asked if there were any new ideas for hosting the biannual Distinguished Artist Awards. Thinking back to the meaningful events of the Battle River Water Ceremony (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), and relaying a summary of that information to her, Lee wondered if people from Battle River Region would be willing to put a proposal together for 2019.
One thing led to many others with the result that the BATTLE RIVER GROUP formed, consisting of ALL of Alberta, Maskwa Associates and NEWO. The next steps drew together a dynamic working group consisting of the members listed below. As time goes on, many others have come on board to help from their perspective and skills.
